Flavors of Grandfather - Empanadas

Empanadas

What is an empanada?

The empanada is a dough filled with meat, vegetables, or fruit, baked or fried in oil or fat. Its name comes from the Spanish word empanar, “to enclose something in dough or bread to bake it in the oven”.

“Our Argentine-style empanadas feature light dough that can be baked or fried, with the most traditional filling being meat, onion, and spices.”

How big is each empanada?

Each empanada weighs 5 ounces. We recommend eating 2-3 empanadas per person, depending on your level of hunger.

How will I receive my empanada?

You can choose to receive them freshly baked or frozen. Our handmade empanadas will arrive at your door freshly baked and ready to eat. If you prefer frozen empanadas, simply place your order and bake them whenever you want.

How long does it take for my baked empanadas to be delivered?

Orders placed before 1:00 pm will be delivered the same day.
Orders placed after 1:00 pm will be delivered the following day.
Delivery time: From 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Weekends: 12:00 PM – 04:00 PM

When you place your order, we prepare the empanadas, refrigerate them, and bake them before delivering them to your home. This way ensures that you receive a completely fresh, freshly baked product. You will receive an email confirming the delivery time 10-15 minutes after placing your order..

How long does it take for my frozen empanadas to be delivered?

When you place your order, we prepare the empanadas, freeze them for 12 – 15 hours, and deliver them to your home the next day. This way you guarantee that you will receive a fresh product.
You will receive an email confirming the delivery time between 10 and 15 minutes after placing your order.
Tip: To give them that golden color, brush the empanadas before baking them (with beaten raw egg).

Delivery time: 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

How do I bake the frozen empanadas?

Place the frozen empanadas on a tray lined with parchment paper and place in a preheated 400° oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

How do I reheat my baked empanadas?

Place the baked empanadas on a tray lined with parchment paper in a preheated oven at 400° for 6 to 9 minutes. Let them rest for 2 minutes before tasting them.

Do my empanadas come with dipping sauces?

You have the option of two sauces to add to your order! We offer Chimichurri and a Creole sauce (Argentine style). We recommend Chimichurri for meat-filled empanadas and Salsa Criolla for cheese-filled empanadas.

What drinks do you recommend to pair with empanadas?

Empanadas pair well with wine or beer (preferably a Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina!) and can be eaten as a snack, as an accompaniment to a full meal or anytime you need something healthy to go.
