A Splash of legend: the fascinating history of chimichurri
Legend has it that chimichurri was created in the late 19th century by an Irish merchant, James “Jimmy” McCurry, who visited Argentina to explore meat import opportunities. Invited to a traditional “asado criollo” at a Buenos Aires estancia, McCurry shared a sauce made from local ingredients. The hosts loved it and started making it themselves, calling it “chimichurri” after “Jimmy Curry.” This flavorful sauce became a staple in Argentine cuisine and is now enjoyed worldwide. Today, we bring this famous sauce to your table to add a special touch to our Argentine empanadas.
